Philodendrons are some of the most exotic and beautiful plants in the tropical world. There are about 400 species of philodendron worldwide, including the Philodendron erubescens, or 'Red Emerald', which is native to Costa Rica and the rainforests of South America. P. erubescens is an aggressive climbing plant. These plants are highly valued for their leaves, which feature reddish and colored undersides that form a lovely display as the leaves cascade down a growing surface.
